Honoring and supporting our veterans

The Roberto Clemente Foundation has a long and proud history of working alongside our nation’s military. From disaster relief to community outreach, we are committed to honoring and serving both active-duty and retired members of the armed forces, as well as their families and caregivers. This commitment is rooted in Roberto Clemente’s own legacy of service and sacrifice.

Roberto Clemente proudly served in the United States Marine Corps Reserve from 1958 to 1964. He trained as an infantryman and served as a rifleman in Camp Lejeune, North Carolina. His time in the Marines shaped his discipline, resilience, and sense of duty, qualities that carried into his baseball career and humanitarian work. Clemente’s service is a reminder that honoring veterans is central to honoring his legacy.

OUR COMMITMENT

The Foundation provides direct support to veterans and their widows through relief initiatives, including delivering generators, food, home repairs, and essential supplies. We also integrate veterans into our community programs and outreach programs, ensuring they remain connected, celebrated, and supported.

LEADERSHIP WITH MILITARY SERVICE

Our dedication to veterans is strengthened by the leadership and guidance of several Foundation board members who bring distinguished military careers and lived experience to our mission:

CARRYING FORWARD CLEMENTE'S LEGACY

Roberto Clemente believed in serving those in need, regardless of background, and lived his life with compassion and courage. The Roberto Clemente Foundation continues this mission by ensuring veterans receive the support, recognition, and resources they deserve.
