UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh delivers world-class care to children from around the world—but for many families, accessing that care comes with overwhelming financial challenges, from travel and lodging to everyday expenses.
The Roberto Clemente Foundation has established the Roberto Clemente Fund at UPMC Children’s, already providing critical support to international patients and their families as they travel to Pittsburgh for treatment. This work continues to build the “Clemente Bridge”—connecting communities through care, compassion, and opportunity.
Through UPMC’s International Services Team, children from more than 80 countries receive specialized care in areas like transplant, heart care, and pediatric cancer—ensuring access to life-saving treatment beyond borders.
In the next section, experience the impact through photos, stories, and letters from the families served by the Roberto Clemente Fund.
“I have children. I could not be happier to have UPMC Children’s here,” says Roberto Clemente Jr., co-chairman of the Roberto Clemente Foundation.
Thank you to the family of Roberto Clemente for your noble support of Puerto Rican families who are far from our beloved little island, going through difficult moments of health. In the midst of distance and uncertainty, your gesture becomes a hug full of hope and solidarity. Thank you for accompanying us and sustaining us during such complex times. It is comforting to know that, even far from home, we can count on the heart and generosity of our people. – The Rivera Cruz family
